Marrakech — Known as the Rose city and the gateway to the Sahara Desert, Marrakech is located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains.
My friend and I planned a long weekend getaway to Marrakech to relax and explore the ancient city of Marrakech. Plus, we intended to enjoy the warm climate of Morocco.
Yes, we are one of them!
We were intrigued to find out for ourselves the interesting beauty and experience Marrakech has to offer.
Recommended by my colleagues at work, RIU hotels is a world-wide all-inclusive hotel chain that is worth every penny.
RIU hotel chains are very popular with the British market with its services and partnership with TUI Holidays, one of the leading UK travel agencies.
Since it’s my first time to visit Marrakech and also my first time staying in an all-inclusive hotel I thought I would give it a try and book our few days holiday with one of the popular all-inclusive Marrakech hotels, Clubhotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie.
Here is my All-inclusive Marrakech hotels: Clubhotel Riu Tikida Palmeraie Review
During Our Stay
On arrival in Menara airport, we were welcomed by the courteous taxi driver that the hotel pre-arranged to pick us up.
The Clubhotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie was around 30 minutes away from the airport on the outskirts of the Marrakech city centre.
On our arrival at the hotel grounds, the beautifully landscaped garden welcomed us.
The hotel manager and other staff welcomed us at the lobby with their warm smiles and a refreshing welcome drinks.
The check-in was prompt and clear instructions were given.
We booked our table for their specialty Moroccan restaurant for two evenings!
It was a great relief that we managed to get the last few spots because they can get pretty booked up easily.
After our check-in, we rode a golf cart to take us and our luggage to our room.
Our room was so spacious with a balcony that was overlooking the swimming pool.
After we settled our belongings and caught up with our rest from our morning flight,
we decided to have a late lunch and went straight to the spa to check their services and book our Royal Moroccan Spa treatments.
Since the hotel is located around 20 minutes away from the city, the hotel provides a scheduled shuttle for the guests who wish to visit the renowned souks of Marrakech.
As for the Clubhotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie dress code, a smart casual and appropriate clothing (Morocco is a Muslim country so please take this into consideration) are expected around the public areas.
Amenities & Facilities
Clubhotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie is designed with the infusion of Moroccan and modern luxury European style.
Here are the detailed info of the hotel’s facilities and amenities.
Within the room, all the basic amenities including bottled water are provided, but there is no mini bar. Basic sachet toiletries are also provided.
During our stay, we experienced their spa services which were superbly relaxing.
It includes the luxury hammam services, body scrub, clay and a whole body massage.
What's Around The Area
Clubhotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie
Marrakech is known for its busy and colourful souks where you can buy all sorts of bits and bobs including spices, dried fruits and nuts.
There is a golf course within the Clubhotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie that can also be used by the guests.
Within the Palmeraie area, it is a known location to do some camel rides in Marrakech.
This is my first time to stay in an all-inclusive hotel chain and I have nothing to compare it to in terms of its direct competitors.
Overall, I had a great time and stay in Clubhotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie.
I’m not sure if I’m fully converted to regularly staying in an all-inclusive hotel.
Don’t get me wrong, the service was fantastic and the hotel itself has high standards.
However, based on my adventurous travel style, I prefer to go around and see the local area and attractions of the place rather than confine the majority of my time inside the hotel.
The amenities are superb and the entertainment kept us busy and did its job to entertain us.
Hence, I’ve come to the conclusion that if the sole purpose of your holiday is to relax and “do nothing”, then all-inclusive hotels can be a perfect fit for you.
This can also be a perfect fit for the “conservative and not so adventurous” type of travellers who prefer to have everything in their hotel and within their comfort zones.
There is nothing wrong with that.
On the other hand, if you are the adventurous explorer type, you might feel that you are losing out on what you have paid for to stay in a luxury all-inclusive hotel.
Because you may tend to be always out and about outside exploring and will come back to your hotel in the evening to get some rest.
In terms of the Clubhotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie food and beverage, again, it’s somehow the same scenario.
The food is delicious and I have no complaint about it.
However, if you are staying in the hotel for a week or two, the food options can be monotonous. Although, the hotel has a massive selection that suits for European taste buds.
Their Moroccan restaurant is definitely worth booking as soon as you get in the hotel.
Unless you going try something outside the hotel property which you will have to shell out for from your own pocket.
I find that the hotel’s location is ideal even if though is a few miles away from Marrakech’s city centre.
The hotel provides a free scheduled shuttle from the hotel to Jemaa El-Fnaa, the Marrakech main square where you can also visit the top attractions in the Rose City.
When it comes to the hospitality and services of the staff, they are all attentive to our needs, very professional and hospitable.
From the wonderful staff in reception up to the courteous staff in the restaurants and bar, they are fantastic.
Overall, I’m so delighted that we have stayed in Clubhotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie and would recommend it to my family and friends who would like to have a relaxing break in Marrakech.
