Hotel Review: Hotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie

During Our Stay

I was travelling with my friend during this trip to Marrakech. We had the pleasure of staying in the Double Standard with a balcony facing the main swimming pool. The room was spacious and stylish.

It has a double twin bed, a lounge, a TV, a small fridge, a dressing table, and a good-sized bathroom with a shower and toiletries. It also has a small table and two chairs on the balcony.

Feel free to check the photos of our stay in this luxury all-inclusive hotel in Marrakech.

We were delighted to have a really nice view from our room. Having that open space with an obstructed view of the swimming pool and greeneries was pleasing to the eyes.

Even if we didn’t have the sun lounger in the comfort of our balcony, it was alright and perfect for us.

Upon our arrival, we were offered a cold welcome drink at the reception area. It was nice to quench the thirst after a morning flight from Gatwick, UK. The check-in process was straightforward and you have to settle the account on check-in.

Since it is all-inclusive, there is no need to open a tab. However, I highly suggest booking your table at their fine-dining Moroccan and Italian restaurant. You can enjoy one dine-in meal in this restaurant per stay.

The receptionist gave us a plastic wristband with the RIU logo and hotel name that served as our entry ticket to the restaurants, bar, and security at the hotel gates.

While we were at the reception, we did ask about the Spa availability. This is another must-do the first thing you arrive at the hotel. We were advised to head straight to the Spa & Wellness area to book our time slots and massages.

The hotel entertainment was great fun too! They are very engaging and give the community vibes among the hotel guests. It was definitely entertaining and you get to meet new people too.

Since the hotel is outside of the bustling city center of Marrakech, the hotel offers a free shuttle for the guests that take them to the Koutoubia (which is close to Jemaa el Fnaa- Marrakech & Old Town Medina) or the new town of Marrakech. The shuttle has a schedule of pick-up and drop-off, so make sure to book your seats at the reception.

In terms of food and drinks at the hotel, it was great and had plenty of options. Just take it easy and enjoy the flavours. I enjoyed the Moroccan dishes that I had, most especially the beef tagine.

Within the room, all the basic amenities including bottled water are provided, but there is no minibar. Basic sachet hotel toiletries are also provided. The towels are provided too.

During our stay, we experienced their spa services which were superbly relaxing. They offer luxury hammam services, body scrub, clay, and a whole-body massage. This is not included in the all-inclusive stay, you need to pay for the services directly at the spa.

The hotel’s golf course is another main activity for the guests, however, there is an extra charge for this. Alternatively, they do have tennis courts, a sports pitch, a gym, evening live band and music to entertain the guests during their stay.

What’s Around The Area

Marrakech is known as the Rose City and the gateway to the Sahara Desert. The city is the cultural hub of Morocco perfectly located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. We were intrigued to find out for ourselves the interesting beauty and experience Marrakech has to offer.

Marrakech is known for its busy and colourful souks where you can buy all sorts of bits and bobs including spices, dried fruits, and nuts.

Recommendation

This was my first time staying in an all-inclusive hotel chain and I have nothing to compare it to in terms of its direct competitors. Overall, I had a great time and stayed in Hotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie.

I’m not sure if I’m fully converted to regularly staying in an all-inclusive hotel. Don’t get me wrong, the service was fantastic and the hotel itself has high standards.

The amenities are superb and the entertainment kept us busy and did its job to entertain us. Hence, I’ve come to the conclusion that if the sole purpose of your holiday is to relax and “do nothing”, then all-inclusive hotels can be a perfect fit for you.

This can also be a perfect fit for the “chill, relaxed and not so adventurous” type of travellers who prefer everything in their hotel and within their comfort zones. There is nothing wrong with that.

In terms of the Hotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie food and beverage, the food was delicious and I have no complaints about it. The hotel has a massive selection that suits European taste buds.

Their Moroccan restaurant is definitely worth booking as soon as you get into the hotel. Unless you going to try something outside the hotel property which you will have to shell out for from your own pocket.

I find that the hotel’s location is ideal even if though is a few miles away from Marrakech’s city centre. The hotel provides a free scheduled shuttle from the hotel to Jemaa El-Fnaa, the Marrakech main square where you can also visit the top attractions in the Rose City.

When it comes to the hospitality and services of the staff, they are all attentive to our needs, very professional and hospitable. From the wonderful staff in reception up to the courteous staff in the restaurants and bar, they are fantastic.

Overall, I’m so delighted that we have stayed in Clubhotel RIU Tikida Palmeraie and would recommend it to my family and friends who would like to have a relaxing break in Marrakech.

  2. I remember looking at this place when I was planning a trip to Marrakech a few years ago and by the looks of it, I should have booked up here instead of the dump I stayed at. 😀 I hva estayed in RIU hotels before and they have been excellent. Anything with a pool and good local food is always for me. 🙂

  3. Looks like grand interiors and it is difficult to leave such cosy interiors and wander out. For the adventurous kind spending on luxirious hotel may not be a great idea. But for luxury seeking holidayers this is definitely the place to stay.

    • I totally agree! I love the luxe vibes of the property but for the adventurous soul it would be so difficult just to stay inside your hotel for the whole duration of the holiday.

  4. We totally understand what you mean about the difficulty of including an all inclusive stay with the desire to get out and adventure. There are certainly times when you want to be immersed in the local scene instead of surrounded with with an insulating layer of luxury. It does look like a beautiful property and they seem to be on point with all of their service items.

  5. This hotel looks beautiful! I stayed in the Medina when I was in Marrakech, but I can imagine it’s much quieter and relaxing 30 minutes away from the city.

  6. Marrakesh has been a dream destination for me for so log! I am always in two minds when visiting a new city – stay within the city center or stay at a quieter place a little bit away. Clubhotel certainly entices me to stay a bit away and have a super relaxed weekend close to the sand and sun 🙂

  7. The hotel sounds really nice even though I am not the “do nothing” and “all-inclusive” kind of guy either. Sometimes you really need to relax and let someone else organize everything for you, though. Thanks for the review. I will most probably be in Marrakesh in October, so I’m currently looking for places to stay!

  8. That looks like a really good hotel. I get what you mean when you said you are the type of travel that goes around. In a place like Marrakech, your really ought to go around instead of staying inside the hotel!

  9. Even if I am justa budget traveler, I make sure that I stay in a good hotel. This looks like an accommodation I would consider. Aftera day of discovering Marrakech, nothing would be more relaxing than a good hotel. Rest is very important in travel!

  10. I can totally relate to being someone who can’t just stay in the hotel when I am in the city. With a city like Makkarech, you really ought to go around and make the most of your stay there! I’m with you here! And agreed that it is a good hotel!

  11. Marrakech, very cool place. I was inspired to visit it after watching an episode of the amazing race. I love super quick check ins but i love getting picked up from the airport like a rock star. However, although this hotel is nice i’m glad I stayed in a traditional Riad. Now I’m thinking about the lamb dinner i had…now i’m hungry!!! Great review
