It is well known as the capital of love, with cobbled streets and the Eiffel Tower there are many romantic things to do. You can enjoy some time in the city, night strolls and romantic dinners out. For a day trip outside the city, Versailles is only a quick train ride away!

If you and your partner are the types, you can also take a trip to Euro Disney which again, is just a short train journey from the centre and can be a fun thing to do as a couple to bring our your inner kids!

There are plenty of romantic sites and activities, such as Taormina, the Marsala saltpans at sunset, a night at the opera, or a volcanic sunrise. You can indulge in the wonderful local food and wine and spend your days walking along the hillside or lounging along the seaside.

You can even have luxury and privacy at home by using local companies like Wishsicily who can help you find a gorgeous, locally owned Sicily honeymoon villa to suit your needs (and your budget). You can also check this sample Sicily guide.

The city is also gorgeous at night, and an evening stroll beside the river marvelling the lights and beautiful architecture is a must if you choose Budapest for your honeymoon.

Any island in Greece is simply beautiful.

Many islands, such as Santorini, are quite famous honeymoon destinations, but they have become more expensive as such.

Corfu is beautiful and luxurious, with fewer tourists than the more popular islands. Island life is relaxing with views everywhere you look and activities available should you choose to explore the clear blue waters. You can enjoy incredible meals made from fresh local produce and look out to the sea.

If you’re looking for water activities, or simply to relax and enjoy each other’s company then look no further than Corfu.

  1. All of these are so beautiful, I will have a tough time picking one! Having said that, though Paris is my personal favourite, I would pick Corfu as I’ve never been to Greece before…the beaches look sublime! Haha…I think I need a holiday right away 🙂

  2. We’ve been married for 36 years so we’re long past the honeymoon stage but I think we may need to go for a second one at one of these amazing destinations! Although we’ve visited a few of these, Colmar looks so magical and fairy tale-like, I’d love to take a romantic trip there. And, of course, you can never go wrong with Paris!

  3. I’m going to Zurich for the first time this year and I”m so excited! Granted, it’s not for a honey moon but my husband will be with me so maybe we’ll call it a second one.

I’d also add Bruges to this list -it’s so charming and lovely.

  4. I have only been to Budapest of all these places and it sure is a romantic place. I remember sitting on the Buda hill and looking at the Denube below or the well lit bridges and the buildings on the Pest side – it was simply lovely. Need to check out other cities you mention.

  5. Everyday spent here in these places can be a honeymoon day! Gorgeous places all, hard to choose one. I will choose Cofru since I haven’t been to this Greece island yet.

  6. My wife and I are always talking about where we’d like to spend our second Honeymoon (and third and fourth because why stop at two?) and this list has definitely given us some food for thought. You aren’t kidding about Colmar, it looks exactly like a postcard, bike by the canal and everything! Thanks for sharing!

  8. This is a fabulous list! Paris is obviously your classic romantic destination, though I do love more intimate options like Sicily which allows you to escape the crowds of more iconic cities.
