Hotel Review: The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club, Dominican Republic

Are you looking for the best resorts in Punta Cana? Wondering where to stay in Punta Cana? Stop looking for another Punta Cana all-inclusive vacation deal, this sustainable hotel in the Dominican Republic will surely captivate your heart!

Located at the heart of the Caribbean region is the island of Hispaniola.  The island of Hispaniola is divided into two Caribbean nations which are Haiti to the west and the Dominican Republic to the East. The Dominican Republic is one of the leading countries that promote sustainable tourism in the Caribbean region.

On my recent trip to the Dominican Republic, I went to visit Punta Cana, the easternmost region of the country. Punta Cana is very accessible and has direct flights from the USA, Canada, UK and other European countries and is a 2-hour drive from the capital, Santo Domingo.

Puntacana Resort & Club started in the early ’70s and developed in the easternmost region of the Dominican Republic.  The Puntacana Group moulded the great foundation of the sustainable tourism destination that it is today.

I recently stayed in The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club it’s a pleasure for me to share with you my hotel review of my stay in the Puntacana Resort & Club.

During Our Stay

My visit to Punta Cana Resort was relaxing and I felt closer to nature.  I was definitely up for a great surprise during my visit as I discovered that Puntacana resort & club is more than just your typical luxury resort nor the typical all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana.

Puntacana Resort & Club is a 25-acre resort with an international airport, village, a few luxury hotel properties, private luxury residential apartments and privately owned houses. I stayed in The Westin Puntacana, the new luxury beach hotel within the Puntacana resort.

Upon my arrival in Punta Cana International Airport, I was welcomed by the lovely staff of the hotel for an express VIP arrival lane. The hotel was only a 10-minute drive from the airport.

It was a very long flight from the UK and jet lag kicks in, after our dinner in Brassa Grill I called it a night!

The following days spent in the Westin Puntacana was definitely relaxing.  We explored the four corners of the resort. We soaked in the lagoon, swimming pool and the Caribbean sea. Walked around the ecological reserve, did some bird watching, visit the bee farm, snorkelled in the Caribbean sea and visited the Puntacana Ecological Foundation as well as the Marine Foundation.

I stayed in the Premium Room of the Westin Puntacana.  The room has a king size Heavenly bed. You can see all the Westin Puntacana room amenities here. On the bedside table, they provided a USB fast charging port which came in handy plus my favourite amenity is the Sleep Well Lavender Balm it helps me to sleep like a baby. Luxury hotel toiletries and towels are also provided in the room.

All the rooms of the Westin Puntacana have a great view of the beach.

The Westin Puntacana has two main dining outlets and bars that cater to the guests of the hotel. The Anani restaurant is where the breakfast is typically served as well as the lunch and dinner. The Brasa Grill & Bar only serves Lunch and Dinner.

The a la carte food is amazingly outstanding and fresh.  Cuisines are International and the tasty Dominican local food. The majority of the ingredients used in these restaurants are sourced locally and from the Puntacana Ecological Foundation.

Active lifestyle and wellness are one of the primary focus of Puntacana Resort & Club.  This resonates with the various activities offered within The Westin Puntacana, such as the 24-hour WestinWORKOUT fitness centre and the “Ready, Set, RunWESTIN” program that enables the guests to do a self-guided jog around the resort with the help of the pocket-sized maps.

The Westin Puntacana also has the “WestinWORKOUT Gear Lending” program in collaboration with New Balance in providing athletic shoes and apparel during your stay for a small charge.

The Six Senses spa is also available for the guests of the hotel which is located within the resort. It is perfect for relaxing and peaceful spa treatments. The guest can also enjoy the swimming pool within the Westin Puntacana and as well as the other swimming pool, beach and lagoon within the Puntacana Resort & Club.

What’s Around The Area

Bonding with nature, active lifestyle and wellness are something that Puntacana Resort & Club are passionate about for their guests. The Puntacana Group is also passionate about sustainable tourism and the development of the region.

I made another blog post discussing the best things to do in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

If you like to enjoy activities that are eco-friendly and will bring you closer to nature, you will definitely enjoy different Punta Cana excursions and attractions.

The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club is simply a haven when you want to relax and be with nature.  The Puntacana group’s effort in promoting sustainable tourism and development exceed my expectations.

Puntacana Resort & Club is more than your typical all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, it has character, story to share and a great mission & vision.  After all, this is where it all began. The Puntacana Resort & Club is the reason why Punta Cana became a prime destination for luxury travels and retreat.

There’s still room for more sustainable development and practices to implement within the property but they are heading in the right direction. Small steps towards progress is a good thing!

Affordability and room prices in the Westin Puntacana Resort & Club are not too expensive as well.  You can check the latest room prices and reviews from TripAdvisor.

Overall, I would definitely recommend and I personally had a great time during my visit to the Westin Puntacana Resort & Club.
