1. Buckingham House was actually bought by George III in 1761 for his wife Queen Charlotte because he wanted a family home that is near St James’s Palace. It was then called the Queen’s House.
2. The walls of Buckingham Palace are made with zoolitic limestones which are fossils that are about 200 million years old. 
3. Buckingham House was remodelled in 1820, following the order of George IV to make it as a temporary lodging only. He changed his mind, and with the help of his architect John Nash, the house became a palace. 
4. John Nash, the King’s architect, was responsible for the magnificence of the Buckingham Palace as seen today. However, he was actually fired from the job because his vision went way over budget.
5. Buckingham Palace has survived 9 German bomb attacks during World War II. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth decided to stay here during the war along with their children.
